The Planning Board and Land Use Committee are holding a joint public hearing on a change in the use table, section 7.11.9.1, dealing with supermarkets.
Separating supermarkets from general merchandise and department stores in the use table could ensure that allowing a supermarket would allow a department store in the same location only by Special Permit. However, Special Permits are granted automatically if the Planning Board does not act.
